AKA Spring, Summer, Winter, Autumn …and Spring.
Basic story...A young boy lives in a small floating temple on a beautiful lake, together with an elderly master who teaches him the ways of the Buddha. Years later the boy, now a young man, experiences his sexual awakening with a girl who has come to the temple to be healed by the master. The youth runs away to the outside world but his lust turns his life into hell, so he returns to the lake temple to find spiritual enlightenment.
I found it an interesting movie and overall a good watch. Mostly I just loved the idea of this little monastery floating along on some peaceful lake in the woods, I could live like that for maybe a month every year :) It didn't have nearly as many Buddhist or Taoist ideas thrown into it as say an episode of Kung Fu, so I guess my search continues for something more like that.
I'm still not sure what I thought of the film entirely, like what was the deal with the woman with the woman who conceals her identity? I have ideas about that but none that really make too much sense, anyone else see the film? Btw if you post an answer to that part please say Spoiler Warning :)

Then you need to see "Why Has The Bodhi Dharma Left for the East?" It's got to be the most overtly Buddhist film made, especially since it's mostly wordless. It's worth seeing in a theater, since it's very gorgeous, and explores Buddhist ideas through images of nature, and it centers on three characters who live in a Buddhist temple. It's a slow film, but not at all dull, and a masterful piece of filmmaking. -
